Notwithstanding the Rupee appreciation and outsourcing backlash, the software exports for 2003-'04 are on track to grow by 26 to 28 per cent.
"Software exports are on track. We are comfortably placed to meet our growth projections of 26 to 28 per cent," Kiran Karnik, president, National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), said in New Delhi today (May 12, 2004).
During 2002-'03, the software and services exports touched $ 9.5 billion, registering a 26.3 per cent growth.
NASSCOM had predicted 26 to 28 per cent growth in 2003-'04 in software and services exports, which would bring in revenue of $ 12 billion.
The projected figures include a 17 per cent growth in services, products and technology, which touched $ 8.4 billion, and 54 per cent growth in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) segment that recorded a revenue of $ 3.6 billion.
