Software engineers of LogicaCMG from Bangalore will manage and support information applications for European airline Britannia Airways, offering savings by one third of the existing cost, for both firms.
LogicaCMG said it has bagged a five-year contract worth $ 12 million to manage and support information technology applications for Britannia Airways from its Indian unit
in Bangalore.
"The scope of the five-year contract covers management, support and enhancement of over 120 of Britannia Airways' IT (Information Technology) applications which LogicaCMG will deliver out of India," LogicaCMG business development director outsourcing, UK, Andrew de Cleyn said.
LogicaCMG, which began working with Britannia since 1997 presently manages the airline's applications including finance, human resources, engineering, flight scheduling and sales.
Around 50 people of LogicaCMG offshore services, the Indian subsidiary will be dedicated for the project and three techies working on Britannia Airways account, relocated.
"There will be a lot of software development work which will be undertaken from India," Britannia Airways, head of Information Systems, Neil Boulton said.
Britannia Airways is owned by Germany's TUIAG, Europe's biggest tourism group and is one largest holiday airlines, with a current fleet of 33 aircraft, offering a wide network
of holiday flights from the UK.
LogicaCMG offshore services, provides offshore and onshore product and project development, applications management (AM), outsourcing services and business process
outsourcing (BPO) services. With a current strength of over 600 staff, the business is aggressively growing its headcount to over 1200 employees by the end of 2004, the company said.
