PeopleSoft to triple headcount in India by year-end Tuesday, February 17 2004 17:54 Hrs (IST)
Bangalore:
NASDAQ-listed PeopleSoft, Inc today (Feb 16, 2004) announced that it would more than triple its headcount for its global development and services activities in India by this year-end significantly accelerating its operations.
Thousand people will be added to its city-based India Services Centre (ISC) and India Development Centre (IDC), the world's second largest provider of enterprise application software said in a statement.
It said the expansion is fuelled by customer demand. PeopleSoft has partnered systems integrator Hexaware to establish the ISC and partners with Covansys for the IDC.
Both the ISC and IDC will continue to focus on development, implementation and support of PeopleSoft Enterprise, EnterpriseOne and World product families, for customers worldwide, the statement said.
Executive Vice-President, Products and Technology, Ram Gupta, said the two centres have played a significant role in enabling PeopleSoft to lead the way in lowering cost and improving the customers' total ownership experience.
"Our accelerated ramp up plan is a natural progression for us, in direct response to the high quality, rapid output we are seeing from our centres in India and customer demand for high quality, offshore implementation services. This is also a reflection of the increased market opportunity that we see for PeopleSoft in India, as one our fastest growing markets worldwide," Gupta said.
