California-based Digite enters Indian market
Monday, February 2 2004 15:03 Hrs (IST)

Bangalore: California-based Digite, promoted by entrepreneurs from the Indian outsourcing industry and so far focussing on the US market, today (Feb 2, 2004) announced plans to enter India, Malaysia and Singapore with its Web-based collaborative platform for IT process and outsourcing governance.

Digite president and CEO (chief executive officer) A V Sridhar told reporters the privately held company is entering India to take advantage of the large market that's booming now.

The two-year-old company currently has 16 customers, including BearingPoint, which is undertaking projects worth $ 1.5 billion using the product of Digite, he said.

Sridhar explained that Digite is a single-product company. For the IT service provider, it provides a state-of-the-art collaborative platform for service delivery, and for the corporate IT customer, it provides a platform for complete visibility into the outsourced project, he said.

The product, which was in fact developed in the company's development centre in Mumbai, would be launched in India, which it considers its largest market, tomorrow. As volume is going to be large here, the company would have different pricing strategy in India, a cost-conscious market, Sridhar said.

Besides Malaysia and Singapore, the company is looking to enter China as well, he added.

The company has been profitable and has survived the economic downturn in the US, Sridhar said, adding for the year 2004 it expects at least a 200 per cent growth. Digite's product helps customers "derive the most" from IT projects, particularly from outsourced ones, he said.
