Aircom Intl acquires HCL Perot's share in JV Monday, January 5 2004 17:03 Hrs (IST)

Bangalore: UK based Aircom International Limited has formally announced that it has bought out the 49.5% equity shares of erstwhile HCL Perot Systems (HPS) from their joint venture known as Aircom HPS Wireless Services (AHWS).
The new company will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Aircom International UK and henceforth will be known as Aircom International (India) Private Limited.
"With the emergence of Aircom India we plan to continue to penetrate the Indian and SAARC Telecommunications markets with more vigour and re-emphasise our expertise and leadership in the wireless business" said Dr Stephen Mockford, Group Chairman & Managing Director, Aircom International Limited.
Aircom International (India) will be an end-to-end wireless solutions company offering a full blend of products, consulting, training and support services for which they have procured the Certificate of Incorporation from the Registrar of Companies and would be fully operational within the first quarter of 2004.
"We are in the finalisation of the strategy document with the India team and will announce our detailed strategy for the India and SAARC market by the end of this month," added Dr Mockford.
Chief Operating Officer (India & SAARC) and Alternate Director of erstwhile AHWS, Tarun Singhal's portfolio has been enhanced to Managing Director for Aircoms operations in India and SAARC countries.
