Madurai: The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) would be going for tie-up arrangements with Bharat Sanchar
Nigam Ltd (BSNL), Maruthi and CitiBank, to stay at the top under "Operation Everest Scheme" and also
retain its customers.
IOC general manager C Ramachandran and deputy general manager K R Suresh Kumar told reporters
today (Nov 26) that it was planning to modify the "fleet card" and introduce another version that would
help the lorry owners fill diesel and other petroleum products anywhere in the country. The facility would
be introduced jointly with the banks and both pre-paid and post-paid cards would be made available to
the fleet owners. The cards would have "multi-utility purpose", they said.
The IOC would also enter into an agreement with the BSNL for its "tracking trucks" scheme and help the
owner of the fleet to know about the location of their lorry.
It would soon be signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the CitiBank and the Maruthi for
introducing another card that would retain petrol customers. The facility would be available to the taxi-
owners also, they said.
The flagship retail outlet along the national highway would be located in such a way that the truck
drivers would be able to fill their tanks at every 400 km distance.
