Bangalore: Venu Srinivasan, CMD (chairman and managing director), TVS Motor Company, recognised
as one of the "Stars of Asia" by Business Week International that featured Asia's 25 top achievers, was
today (November 6) presented with a special plaque in recognition of his achievements by former US
President Bill Clinton, at the CEO (chief executive officer) Forum in Hong Kong.
Srinivasan was the only Indian manufacturer eligible for this distinction in the Star of Asia 2002 along
with stalwarts like Toyota Motor Corporation's president Fujio Cho, TVS said in a statement.
Srinivasan said he is proud that an Indian company is winning laurels amidst competition in the same
segment from international business houses.
"It speaks volumes of our diligent and dedicated work force at TVS Motor Company who have worked
hard even under trying circumstances to keep the company in the forefront of our business," he
said.
Business Week said, "For more than a decade, Srinivasan worked hard to revive his company, which
manufactured motorcycles and scooters in a joint venture with Suzuki Motor Corporation, after a strike
nearly disrupted it. By 2001, TVS Motor Company had become strong enough to split with Suzuki on
favourable terms and start manufacturing on its own."
