Bangalore: Bangalore IT.COM 2003, Asia's largest ICT event, is hosting a seminar titled Government IT
Enabler on 2nd November 2003, at the Taj West End from 9:00 AM (IST) to 5.30 PM (IST). The seminar,
sponsored by InvestHK, is aimed at enabling a dialogue between State and City Government
representatives and the industry. This Summit will witness result-oriented discussions on challenges,
sustainable infrastructure, potential sites for new start-ups and other ongoing initiatives relevant to the
Information Technology industry.
The Chief Guest at the seminar would be Government of India's Secretary of Industrial Policy &
Promotion Rajiv Ratan Shah and Government of Karnataka's Industry & Commerce Principal Secretary
Subir Hari Singh would be the Guest of Honour.
The session on key issues for city infrastructure, will be addressed by Bangalore Development Authority
(BDA) Commissioner Jayakar Jerome, Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) Commissioner M R
Sreenivasa Murthy, IG of Registration Lukose Vallatharai, Commissioner of Stamps M K Aiyappa, Joint
Commissioner, Transport and BMTC Upendra Tripathy. The New Indian Express Editor Shantanu Dutta
would be the moderator for the session.
The second session will discuss Tax & Labour environment IT Industry and will be addressed by
Customs & Excise Commissioner R Sunderraman, Commercial Taxes Chief Commissioner Ashok Manoli,
STPI, NOIDA Director S K Agarwal, and Labour Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar.
A panel discussion on Telecom Infrastructurewill be addressed by CGM, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited
(BSNL) V Ramakrishna Rao, K Padmanabbhan, Siddharth Ray, Data Access CEO Prabhat Pani, TATA
Teleservices COO and Anand Kumar, Govindraj Ethiraj of CNBC TV18 will moderate this discussion.
Representatives of countries such as UK, Germany, France, Hong Kong and Singapore amongst others
will present their views on the movement of IT professionals with a global perspective. Speakers include
Vice Counsellor Visa Affairs of German Consulate Chennai; Christian Scheibe, InvestHK Associate
Director General John Rutherford, UK Consulate Simon Dadd, US Consulate General among others.
The former IT Secretary, Government of Karnataka will be the moderator.
