Intel launches Mobilized Software, Developer EAP
Tuesday, October 21 2003 19:35 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: To further accelerate the convergence of wireless computing and communications, Intel India on October 21 introduced on-going initiatives aimed at collaborating and sharing information amongst the growing developer community of mobilized software solutions through two programs, the Mobilized Software Initiative and the Intel® Developer Services Early Access Program (EAP).

Wireless computing devices are proliferating at a rapid pace, creating the need for software applications designed to handle the realities of mobile computing. Intel is helping to make mobility more pervasive by working closely with the software industry to 'mobilize' applications.

This will enable users to work more productively and conveniently by adding online/offline functionality, which allows users to work anywhere, any time, without disruption, even when network connections are interrupted.

The main features are:

·Providing intelligent roaming capabilities when moving from hotspot to hotspot, so that users won't waste time reconnecting or lose critical data due to dropped connections.

·Enabling flexible data access and applications on various computing devices, whether they are laptops, desktops, hand-helds or servers.

·Tuning applications to conserve power and maximize performance, delivering fast application execution so that users worry less about running out of battery power.

As part of the Mobilized Software Initiative, India's first Mobility Workshop is being held on October 21 at the Intel Developer Forum for industry leading software architects, senior mobile application developers and mobile technology business decision makers from diverse segments of the community, such as, Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), Corporate IT/IS, System Integrators and Network Service Providers. The event will include general sessions, focused discussions, demos and showcase usage models.

For those unable to attend the Mobility Workshop, the Intel® Developer Services Early Access Program (EAP) delivers all the resources a company needs to develop and market cutting edge software solutions that run best on Intel's latest processors.

"Intel is committed to catalyzing information sharing among industry experts, practitioners, and others who care about mobilized software. EAP and the Mobilized Software Initiative seek to educate developers on the latest technology, build applications that push the technology envelope and help draw the attention of customers. We believe that both programs will provide tremendous value to this community," said John Davies, Vice President, Sales and Marketing Group and Director, Solutions Market Development Group, Intel Corporation.

EAP members can take advantage of expert marketing tools, the best technical support and training, the latest development systems and the newest software and tools. The Intel Developer Services Early Access Program for Mobility also provides developers of mobilized solutions with access to a variety of the latest development systems from OEMs, along with access to pre-release and NDA content including software development tools not available to the general public. With these benefits, EAP members can use Intel's latest technologies to improve products and grow market share in their respective areas.

"The Intel Developer Services program has been successfully adopted by Aurigo Software Technologies, a global software solutions company providing world class products and services in wireless and embedded technologies.

Having access to the technology early in our development cycle has allowed us to have our software ready for release when the hardware is ready," says Balaji Sreenivasan, Co-Founder and Director (Operations), Aurigo Software Technologies.
