Bangalore: IT major Wipro Ltd on October 17 announced that it recruited 3,091 people during second quarter (July to September 2003) to touch a total of 24,265 professionals.

Nearly 1,061 people were added for the IT services division and about 2,030 people for its IT Enabled Services division (Wipro Spectramind), a company statement said.

Of the total 24,265 employees, 15,573 were in IT services division and 8,492 employees in IT Enabled Services segment.

The company has hired 2,202 professionals for IT services in the first six months, and about 3,386 people for IT Enabled Service.

Wipro IT segment includes Global IT Services and Products and Wipro Infotech, the India, West Asia and Asia Pacific IT services and products business.

The IT Enabled Services segment has Wipro Spectramind, one of the largest business process outsourcing (BPO) firms in the country.
