Jadoo Works bags multi-million dollar deal from US
Sunday, October 12 2003 15:14 Hrs (IST)

Bangalore: India's Jadoo Works has bagged multi-million dollar deal from two leading American animation studios to produce 26-episode TV serial each and work on the two projects would start in the middle of this month, a top company official said.

Two-year-old Bangalore-based animation design firm Jadoo Works was started by IT services company vMoksha Technologies.

vMoksha's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Pawan Kumar told reporters in Bangalore, that animation studio Wild Brain has given a $ 3.5 million order, adding, the contract from Mike Young Productions is to the tune of $ 2 million.

"Work on the two projects would be taken up in parallel from the middle of October and they would be completed in 13 to 14 months", Kumar said.

Wild Brain is a top US producer in the animated commercial sector and its clients include big names in media and entertainment such as Universal, Twentieth Century Fox and Disney, it was noted.

"Jadoo Works is currently executing orders worth $ 7.5 million", Kumar said. "In the pipeline are projects that run into $ 20 million-plus".

Jadoo Works currently has a head-count of 200, which would be ramped up to 300 in the next six months, Kumar said.

Meanwhile, he said vMoksha, which has a strong focus on ERP and specialises in offshore outsourcing and e-business services, also has major expansion plans.

vMoksha currently has 600 people and it has plans to add 400 professionals by the middle of next year, he said.

vMoksha acquired two US-based companies last year, and Kumar indicated that it's looking for more.

"Acquisition is part of our strategy. If valuations are attractive and good, acquisition makes sense. Growth is a combination of organic and inorganic growth. We believe in inorganic growth as well", he said.

Kumar expressed the view that while acquisition is easy, integration is tougher but said the company has been successful in integration.
