WeP Peripherals to start business printing outsourcing

Coimbatore: WeP Peripherals, a division of Wipro Infotech, and Dot matrix printers major, would launch the country's first business printing outsourcing service.

The modalities for commencing the service are being worked out, with website located at Bangalore and expected to become operational in a period of six months, according to E V S Sai Babu, general manager, sales (South and West) of the company.

Talking to reporters on September 3, Babu said that the service would provide any time anywhere printing and encompasses not only onsite printing, but also offsite printing and from outside at print kiosks.

Saying that the company, which started manufacturing printers in 1987 has crossed one million in 2003, he said that it clocked one lakh in 1993 and nine lakh printers in just about one decade from 1993 to 2003.

With 35 per cent market share, WeP Peripherals would focus to continue to achieve leadership in the digital printing area Babu said.

The company would also be looking at increasing exports to constitute 20 per cent of the total business, which was 10 per cent of total turnover of Rs 208 crore now, Babu said.

WeP also plans to go public in a couple of years and the volume and the percentage would be worked out soon, he said.
