Cabinet clears four pc hike in Dearness Allowance

New Delhi: Government on September 2 approved a four per cent hike in Dearness Allowance to Central government employees and pensioners, which is expected to cost the exchequer Rs 1,460 crore in a full year.

The Finance Ministry's proposal was cleared by the Cabinet, official sources said.

The proposed hike is to be effective retrospectively from July 1.
