India keen to invest in Merlion India Fund: Sinha
Wednesday, August 27 2003 20:01 Hrs (IST)

Singapore: India is keen to invest in the Singapore-based Merlion India Fund, launched on August 27, External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha said.

Talking to reporters, Sinha said India was interested in the fund. "We have committed to contribute to the joint fund," he said.

He, however, said the extent of Indian contribution to the fund is yet to be decided.

Sinha said the fund was aimed at promoting investments between New Delhi and Singapore. Companies from both the countries would use the fund to make investments in their projects.

The fund is a venture of Temasek Holding, an investment arm of the Singapore government, and Standard Chartered Bank, with an initial equity of $ 100 million.
