Indian economy strong enough to survive attacks: CII
Monday, August 25 2003 18:40 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: Strongly condemning the August 25 bomb blasts in Mumbai that claimed several lives, the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), however, said it would not have any impact in the long run on the economy.

"We express our deep distress at these explosions and convey our sympathies to the families of those killed and injured in the twin blasts," CII president Anand Mahindra said in a release.

CII Western region chairman Firdose Vandrevala expressed strong confidence in the resilience of the city residents and said, "The explosions will not have any impact in the long run.

"India, its economy and the people are strong enough to withstand such attacks," he said, adding in spite of these explosions, it would be business as usual in the city and rest of the country.
