BSNL introduces accountless Internet services

Chennai: Taking on the stiff competition emerging in telecom services, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has come out with "CLI-based accountless Internet services" in Chennai.

The service, available from July 23, has attractive features like pay-as-you-use, surf Internet at 10 paise per minute plus normal telephone charges, free online registration and also the non-necessity to purchase Internet account, S S Iyer, Chief General Manager, Chennai Telephones, told reporters.

The service is available to all BSNL basic telephone subscribers in the city, who would be getting the Internet bill along with the regular telephone bill.

BSNL has also come out with special Wireless in Local Loop (WLL) packages for Chennai like WLL connection and a Hyundai handset in 25 equal instalments at Rs 200 per month.

Other schemes on the cards are Answering Machine Service (AMS) for BSNL subscribers in the city by August next free of cost on request basis, usage-based access charges for simultaneous usage of the same telephone line for telephone calls to all city exchanges by August-September.
