New Delhi: GE Capital International Services (GECIS) on June 25 announced the setting up of an IT- enabled services facility in Hyderabad.

The new business process outsourcing (BPO) facility would be a processing and learning centre and would complement the activities of other GECIS centres in Gurgaon, Jaipur and Bangalore, a company release said.

GECIS is a wholly owned subsidiary of US-based General Electric Company. The new facility was inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, GE India president and CEO Scott Bayman and Pramod Bhasin, CEO GECIS Global and president GE India.

The facility would provide specialised IT-enabled support services ranging from data entry to transaction processing and high-end financial and software services.

At present, Phase-I of the centre is operational with 2,000 employees. The entire range of processes of GECIS Hyderabad would be relocated from the existing Hyderabad facility and the transition is expected to be completed by June 30, 2003.
