Bangalore: US-based web meeting services firm Webex Communications on June 3 said it plans to set
up switching hubs (nodes) for its network in either Bangalore or Hyderabad with an investment of $ 2.5
lakh and increase its presence in the Indian market.
"The equipment for a node would cost about $ 2.5 lakh and there would be additional investments on
manpower training and infrastructure. The location for the nodes, to be connected to our global network
will either be in Bangalore or Hyderabad," Webex Communications chief executive officer Subrah Iyar
told reporters in Bangalore.
He said Webex traffic from India to America was being routed through the node in Hong Kong, but
anticipation of expanding its Indian business made the company firm up its plans to invest in nodes here.
Iyar said the $ 140 million company intended to increase outsourcing of its technical and call centre
services to India in the next three years and had established a BPO unit in Hyderabad.
"Presently, 80 per cent of the client servicing is being done in US and the remaining 20 per cent in India,
in three years, we will have 80 per cent of it outsourced and the rest in US," he said.
Webex on June 3 extended its partnership with Bangalore-based conferencing service provider
Cyberbazaar, which will provide additional services to its clients in the country.
