Bangalore: TVS Motor Company expects to boost its market share in India's two-wheeler segment by at
least three percentage points to 25 per cent with the launch of the new motorcycle Fiero F2 and
scooterette Scooty Pep, a senior company executive said on May 7.
Vice president (marketing), Harish Krishnamachar, said that with the launches, the company anticipated
a 1.5 per cent increase in market share in motorcyle segment and two per cent in scooterettes.
The company claims a 22 per cent market share in the overall two-wheeler space – 19 to 19.5 per cent
in motorcycle segment and 33 to 34 per cent in scooterettes.
Vice president (marketing and sales), R Chandramouli, said the company has lined up launch of three
more new products, all of them "radical" in nature, this year.
Pointing out that the speed with which a company unveiled new products is crucial in the current intense
competition in the sector, Chandramouli said TVS's latest mantra is "gain, share through new products".
Krishnamachar said the company expected sales of 5,000 to 6,000 units of Fiero F2 and 10,000 units of
Scooty Pep a month.
Fiero F2 is a four-stroke, 150 cc, 8.95 KW (12 bhp) motorcyle, while Scooty Pep is a four-stroke 75 cc
scooterette, company officials noted.
