Mumbai: A firm start by the top heavyweight Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) helped SENSEX open on a strong footing and even cross 3,000-
level at early stages of the session on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on April 23.
Operators were seen building up positions in RIL ahead of the company's announcement of results during the session, brokers said
adding, RIL is expected to come out with the fourth quarter results as per market projections.
The BSE sensitive index opened remarkably up at 2,997.34 as against April 22 close of 2,985.54 and later rose past 3,000-level to a high
of 3,009.01 before being quoted at 3,000.73 at 10.30 am (IST).
Several second-line IT counters remained in the forefront, aided by a sharp rally on Wall Street on April 22 night. The Dow Jones industrial
average ended up by 156.09 points and the NASDAQ composite index rose by 26.99 points respectively.
Key shares like Infosys Tech, Satyam Computers and a few others were quoted moderately higher on fresh support.
