Iraq war, SARS hit Infosys business: Nilekani

Bangalore: Software major Infosys Technologies on April 10 said several clients have cancelled visit to India due to the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) Pneumonia virus prevailing in South East Asia and the war on Iraq, affecting its business.


"The war on Iraq and the SARS pneumonia virus in South East Asia have led to cancellation of client visits. Since March 15, there have been no client visits to our campus," Infosys Chief Executive Officer, President and Managing Director Nandan M Nilekani told reporters on April 10.

Four Infosys employees working in Hong Kong have also returned to India due to health concern following the SARS outbreak, Infosys Chief Operating Officer S Gopalakrishnan said.

He said travel by employees to Singapore and Hong Kong have been hit.

"It does have an effect on our business," Gopalakrishnan said.
