Mumbai: The SENSEX opened on a promising note and rallied further in line with a
smart upsurge in select heavyweights at early stages of the session on the Bombay
Stock Exchange (BSE) on March 22 on fresh buying.
The BSE-30 share Sensitive Index opened moderately higher at 3208.58 as against the
March 21 close of 3200.15 and later shot up to a high of 3225.26 before being quoted
at 3217.01 at 11:30 hours (IST).
The market is open for trading between 11:00 hours and 13:00 hours.
Attributing the upsurge to firm US markets that continued to move upwards on hopes
of a swift end to the war, brokers said operators were seen making fresh commitments
in several counters.
In New York, the Dow Jones Industrial Average spurted by 235.37 points and the
NASDAQ Composite Index rose by 19.07 points on March 21.
Heavyweighted shares like Infosys Tech, RIL, SBI, Satyam Computer, Telco, Tisco, ITC
and HPCL were quoted remarkably higher.
