Michael Dell in Bangalore on a day's visit
Wednesday, March 19 2003 14:39 Hrs (IST)

Bangalore: Dell Corporation chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) Michael Dell is on a day's visit to Bangalore on March 19 and will address over 3,000 employees working at its global customer relationship management facilities.

Dell is visiting the Indian subsidiary Dell International Services Ltd exactly a year after his previous visit.

The Indian operations have grown from 800 professionals last year to over 3,000 now in three units, catering to Dell's operations in the United States and Europe. The company had projected an increase in employee strength to 2,500 during Dell's previous visit.

"Dell is here on a private visit. He will be addressing employees and later interacting with the management team," a Dell spokesperson said.

She said that Dell would be visiting Infosys Technologies on a private visit but declined to comment further.

This is the third visit to India by the 37-year old Dell, who is credited to have built the world's largest PC firm.

Dell International Services also develops software applications for the American parent.

During his visit last year, Dell had met Wipro chairman Azim Premji and Infosys CEO and managing director Nandan M Nilekani and explored the possibility of outsourcing software work with them.
