Bangalore: Wipro Limited on January 31 announced the appointment of T K Kurien as
president of Wipro HealthScience, the new business segment formed in April 2002 to
address the market opportunities in healthcare and life science Information
Technology (IT), according to an official press release.
T K Kurien, 43, currently chief executive – telecom and Internet service provider
(TISP) vertical in Wipro Technologies, brings with him a wide experience in the
healthcare industry. He has worked with Wipro GE Medical Systems Limited in various
capacities for over 10 years.
In his latest assignment with Wipro Technologies, T K Kurien successfully built
Wipro's TISP business to revenue of approximately $ 49 million in its first full
year of operations. T K Kurien will report to Vivek Paul, vice-chairman, the release
said.
Suresh Vaswani, 42, president - Wipro Infotech, India, Asia Pacific and Middle East
IT business, will head the TISP vertical in Wipro Technologies, reporting to Vivek
Paul, in addition to his existing responsibilities. Suresh Vaswani will continue to
report to Azim Premji, chairman, Wipro Infotech business, according to the release.
D A Prasanna, chief executive officer - Wipro HealthScience, has decided to pursue
opportunities outside of Wipro. Wipro appreciates the contribution made by D A
Prasanna in building a strong foundation for Wipro HealthScience since April 2002,
and also acknowledges his contributions to Wipro GE and Wipro over the years, the
release added.
