New Delhi: The country's industrial production in November registered a growth of 3.7
per cent as against 2.4 per cent in the same month (Nov 2001) of last year mainly on
account of sustained growth in manufacturing and electricity sectors.
The manufacturing sector, accounting for more than three-fourth of the weightage in
the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), registered a growth of 3.8 per cent in
November 2002 over 2.3 per cent in the corresponding month last year.
According to Quick Estimates of IIP released by Central Statistical Organisation
(CSO), the cumulative industrial growth during April-November stood at 5.3 per cent
compared to 2.5 per cent in the same period in 2001.
