New Delhi: Polaris chief Arun Jain and his colleague Rajiv Malhotra, who were
released by Indonesian police on December 20, may get back their passports and other
related documents on December 23, paving the way for their return to India on
December 23 night.
Jain, who along with Malhotra was detained in Jakarta for over a week following a
commercial dispute with Bank Artha Graha, were released on December 20 after a
diplomatic intervention.
Despite his release Jain's passport has not been restored leaving a cloud of
uncertainity over the date of his return to India.
Information Technology and Communications Minister Pramod Mahajan had on December 20
told reporters that he had talked to Jain who in turn had expressed hope that
Polaris would be able to resolve the dispute with the Indonesian Bank by December
23 or December 24.
The Minister had also said that the Indian Embassy had assured the Indonesian
authorities that it would not cause any obstruction to the investigations.
