New Delhi: India is likely to become a hub for printing Asian editions of technical
and speciality magazines following the decision to allow 74 per cent foreign direct
investment (FDI) in non-news and non-current affairs publications, Information and
Broadcasting Minister Sushma Swaraj has said.
The government's decision to open up the sector to FDI would give a boom to the
Indian print industry, Swaraj said presiding over the Golden Jubilee celebrations of
All India Federation of Master Printers on the night of December 15, an official
release said on December 16.
Foreseeing a revolution in the sector, she said the industry would be able to adopt
latest technologies and compete with the best in the world.
