New Delhi: The government has imposed anti- dumping duties on imports of compact
fluorescent lamps (CFL) from China and Hong Kong.
The duty has been imposed by the Customs department under the Finance Ministry on
the basis of recommendations made by the Directorate General of Anti-dumping and
Allied Duties (DGAD).
The DGAD in its final findings in November this year had concluded that CFL's
exported from China and Hong Kong were below normal value, resulting in
dumping.
Accordingly, the Customs department has now imposed a duty equal to the difference
between the amount $ 1.256 per unit and the landed value of imports on CFL's without
choke from China and Hong Kong.
However, for CFL's with choke the duty would be equal to the difference between the
amount $ 1.845 per unit and the landed value of imports in the case of Chinese
company Hangzhou Feihua Lighting and Electrical Appliance Co Ltd.
All other imports of CFL with choke from China and Hong Kong would have duty equal
to the difference between the amounts $ 3.125 per unit and the landed value of
imports.
Anti-dumping duty imposed under the customs notification would be levied with effect
from the date of the imposition of the anti-dumping duty ie, December 21, 2001 and
shall be payable in Indian currency.
In the case of import of CFL with choke, originating in or exported from Hong Kong,
the anti-dumping duty imposed under the notification will, however, be effective
from the date of issue of this notification.
