Bangalore: Under the directive of the "open skies policy" of the government of
India, Lufthansa German Airlines on December 9 announced that from January 15 to
March 15, 2003, it would operate three additional flights from Bangalore to
Frankfurt and a vice versa.
With the addition of these three temporary weekly flights to Bangalore, Lufthansa
would now operate nine flights a week to/from Southern India, three flights to
Chennai with B 747 and six flights to Bangalore (A 340/300), thus providing "enough
extra capacity" to meet the increasing air traffic demand during the peak
season.
As from April 1, 2003, Lufthansa will add another three flights (B 747) to Chennai
on a permanent basis, a Lufthansa release said.
