SENSEX opens strong on Wall Street upsurge

Mumbai: Bolstered by a strong upsurge on the Wall Street night, the benchmark opened sharply higher in line with smart rally in heavyweights on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on November 28 following renewed buying by operators as well as institutional investors.

Led by software bellwether Infosys Tech, IT counters bounced back due to a sharp spurt of over 43 points in the tech-heavy NASDAQ Composite Index on November 27 night. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also flared up by over 255 points on positive economic data.

The BSE-30 share sensitive index resumed firm with a wide gap at 3,192.12 as against the November 27 close of 3,174.11 and touched a high of 3,210.46 before being quoted at 3201.93 at 10.30 am (IST).

Sharp to moderate rally in other index-based shares like HLL, RIL, HPCL, BHEL, Hero Honda, ITC, L&T, SBI and Telco also helped the SENSEX rise.
