New momentum in Indo-US trade relationships
Tuesday, November 12 2002 20:04 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: India and the US on November 12 discussed ways and means to facilitate cooperation in high-tech, trade and other areas and further consolidate their multifaceted relationship.

The issues figured during wide-ranging discussions visiting US Under Secretary of State for Commerce Kenneth Juster had with Foreign Secretary Kanwal Sibal in New Delhi.

This is a follow-up to the meeting of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee with President George Bush in New York in September 2002 when the decision of the two countries to qualitatively transform bilateral relations was reaffirmed. The two leaders had also decided to strengthen the new Indo-US strategic dialogue.

Juster will have meetings on November 13 with External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha, Defence Minister George Fernandes and National Security Advisor Brajesh Mishra.

Later in November, US Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill will visit India to carry forward the new momentum in economic dialogue.
