Mumbai: The SENSEX opened with a small upward variation and later improved
moderately in erratic movements at early stages on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)
on November 7 on selective buying by operators.
The BSE Sensitive Index opened marginally higher at 2,983.74 as against the previous
close of 2,982.39 and later moved irregularly in a range of 2,993.27 and 2,962.64
before being quoted at 2,987.40 at 10:30 hours (IST).
Key counters like RIL, BHEL, GACL, Grasim and SBI were quoted remarkably up on fresh
buying support while HPCL, BPCL, HLL and a few others showed marked falls on selling
pressure.
Wipro was quoted sharply higher on hectic buying support prompted by reports that
the company has bagged a major deal from blue-chip global investment banker Lehman
Brothers.
Syngenta India Ltd too was in the limelight following the decision by the world's
largest agrochemical company, Syngenta, to make an offer to buy out 49 per cent in
its domestic subsidiary.
Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by about 94 points, extending its
gains to fourth straight session and the NASDAQ Composite Index added about 18
points on November 6 night.
