India pledges 1 mn metric tons of wheat for Afghan

United Nations: India has pledged a contribution of one million metric tons of wheat for Afghanistan, the World Food Programme (WFP) has announced.

This is the largest single donation to WFP.

The first tranche of 40,000 metric tons will be used to make high-energy biscuits for WFP's school-feeding programme in Afghanistan, WFP said.
