Mumbai: Camlin Limited reported a 6.73 per cent increase in turnover for the first
half year as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The half
year results, which reported a turn over of Rs 10,948.72 lakh for April to September
2002, was approved by the board of directors, according to an official press release.
After providing for taxes (current as well as deferred), interest, depreciation and
VRS cost, the company has made a net profit of Rs 529.01 lakh as compared to Rs
245.96 lakh in the corresponding period in 2001 registering a growth of 115.08 per
cent.
The growth in exports by 45.20 per cent has contributed towards profitability, the
release said.
Camlin's fine chemical division is the world's second largest manufacturer and
exporter of "antox", a popular food anti-oxidant, according to the release.
Camlin also felt it was essential to deliver educational products and other writing
instruments even at remote villages and interior parts of the country. Due care has
been taken to ensure that price and affordability are given appropriate weightage,
the release added.
