Infosys reports 35 per cent hike in Q2 income

Bangalore: Technology major Infosys Technologies reported a 35.39 per cent increase in income for the second quarter ended September 30 as compared to corresponding quarter of the previous year, according to an official press release.

"Income from software development and products was Rs 879.59 crore for the second quarter ended September 30. Earnings per share from ordinary activities increased to Rs 34.10 from Rs 30.47 for the corresponding quarter of the previous year," the release said.

"During the quarter ended September 30, 18 new clients including marquee name such as Porsche AG, Commonwealth Industries, Arrow Electronics and Vcommerce Corporation were added to Infosys portfolio. The company also added 2,065 employees during the quarter," the release said.

The company announced an interim dividend of Rs 12.50 per share, up from the Rs 7.50 announced during the corresponding period of the previous year, the release added.

"We have increased our guidance for fiscal 2003 despite a very challenging environment. Our customer support and superior delivery capabilities combined with the increased acceptance of offshore outsourcing model have accelerated the revenue growth beyond our initial projections," Infosys chief executive officer, president and managing director Nandan M Nilekani said.
