Chennai: Cidex Trade Fairs Private Limited, an Indo-German joint venture, will be
organising 14 international exhibitions in the country next year, according to
Norbert Schmidt, its managing director.
He told reporters on September 12 that the company would also organise 10
international expos in the country in 2004.
Most of these expos would be held at the newly constructed HITEX exhibition grounds
at Hyderabad, where the Andhra Pradesh government had offered the infrastructure
facilities at a "unbelievably cheap prices", he said.
The company would become the sole representative of the German exhibition organising
giants Messe Dusseldorf GmbH in India from April 2003 and would be the single window
entity for all outbound formalities for exhibitors from India to showcase their
products abroad, he said.
The company, which began its operations in January 2001, had incurred a loss of Rs 7
million in the first 15 months of its operations. However, the company was expected
to break even in the current financial year with a turn over Rs 144 million against
Rs 53 million for the last fiscal, he said.
