TTD plans to auction foreign coins worth 7 tons

Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) on September 6 said that it was planning to auction coins of various countries donated by devotees from across the world during their visit to the Lord Venkateswara temple.

The TTD was also taking suggestions from the devotees thronging the temple from across the country in this regard, the Devasthanam executive officer Dr P Krishnaiah said.

The TTD had also approached the RBI for the sale of the coins, he said.

He said that the total weight of the coins of countries like the US, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Canada, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Malaysia of different denominations had gone up to seven tons.
