Thursday, September 5 2002 11:08 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: Share values resumed on a promising note extending overnight gains on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on September 5 following good buying support from operators as well as retail investors on positive Wall Street advices.

The BSE-30 share sensitive index opened higher at 3,185.32 from previous close of 3,173.35 and was trapped in a small range of 3,197.29 and 3,181.00 before being quoted at 3,189.31 at 10:30 hours (IST).

On Wall Street, the Dow Jones industrial average halted a five-session string of losses, gaining by 117.07 points on September 4 while the tech-heavy NASDAQ composite index rose by 28.47 points.

Software counters, particularly second-line scrips, were in keen demand on good buying enquiries from speculators.
