Bangalore: Bio-informatics Institute of India (BII), has now introduced two regular courses; Post Graduate Diploma in Bioinformatics (six months course) and Graduate Diploma in Bioinformatics (three years course) with limited seats, according to an official press release.

Offered through its nine centres: Delhi (Preet Vihar, Chittranjan Park and Ashok Vihar), Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Ranchi, Haridwar and Indore, these courses have been designed in a very coherent and extensive fashion for the students to provide them wider opportunities to build careers in various industry segments, like pharma, healthcare & IT industries, the release said.

The immense opportunity of bio-informatics has already propelled many companies to work together for research & development (R&D) in India.

"Bio-informatics is the new global wave. Companies engaged in the business of developing drugs, agriculture, chemicals, hybrid plants, plastics, petroleum derivatives, information technology, among others, are resorting to bioinformatics in a bid to find new avenues and research outputs to help replace scarce natural resources," BII director R K Mehrotra said.
