Bangalore: Hewlett Packard (HP) Services, on August 13 announced that it has won a $
5 million contract from Tata Steel, Asia’s first and India's largest integrated
private sector steel company for managed services. Spread over a span of five years,
this outsourcing contract will cover the entire gamut of HP Services' Managed
Services offerings.
Tata Steel has identified and selected HP as their information technology (IT)
services partner to develop and deploy complex solutions and deliver outsourcing
services to manage their Multivender, distributed IT environments. Tata Steel is the
latest addition to the growing base of customers deciding to outsource their IT
operations to HP Services especially in the manufacturing segment, some of which
also include Maruti Udyog Limited and Bajaj.
Commenting on the new win, Kapil Jain, director- HP Services, HP India
said, "Managed services is one of the key growth segments in the Asia Pacific region
slated to cross $ 8 billion in 2005. India has been a strategic destination for HP
Services and we have been rapidly growing year on year. The order that we have won
from Tata Steel is a testimony to the growing potential of the IT infrastructure
outsourcing market and clearly validates the growing strength of the new HP Services
organisation. We hope to close more orders by end 2002."
