Mumbai: The SENSEX hovered in positive territory after buying in select heavyweight
at the opening session on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on August 12.
The BSE-30 share sensitive index resumed slightly lower at 2,972.59 from August 9
close of 2,976.34 and recovered later to touch a high of 3,000.99 before being
quoted at 2,998.77 at 11.00 am (IST).
Majority of software counters, including front-line stocks, were quoted marginally
up following good enquiries from operators on the back of firm trend on the Wall
Street.
Second-rung IT as well as cyclical shares also attracted brisk buying support from
retail investors, as prices were attractive after recent decline. Select old-economy
heavyweights including Hindustan Lever Limited (HLL), Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL),
TELCO, TISCO and Bharat Heavy Elecricals Ltd (BHEL) also displayed a firm trend on
good buying support at lower levels.
