Mumbai: Equities extended overnight gains at Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on July 30
with the SENSEX opening on a positive note and rose to early peaks of 3,080.70 on
fresh buying enquiries induced by a smart rally in the US markets.
However, profit-selling emerged later and pared part of the early gains with SENSEX
currently quoted at 3,047.92 against a close of 3,030.06 on July 29.
Brokers said that the threat of drought continued to weigh heavily with FMCG major
HLL flat at Rs 176.40 while some tech stocks attributed the downfall due to lower
than expected results, especially by VSNL and Polaris.
