New Delhi: The government on July 30 extended the last date for filing tax by
individuals to August 9 from the earlier deadline of July 31 to facilitate tax
payers.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said the date was being extended to August 9
in respect of all those who are due to file tax return on July 31.
"The extension is aimed at facilitating tax payers in filing returns in view of
noticeable increase in the tax filing," the CBDT said in a release.
The government earlier extended the last date for filing tax return in bulk by
employers by a month to August 31.
