New Delhi: Indian IT software and services industry grossed an annual revenue of Rs
48,000 crore ($ 10.1 billion) during 2001-02 as opposed to Rs 37,760 crore ($ 8.26
billion) revenues of previous fiscal, registering an overall growth of 27 per cent
in Rupee terms and 22 per cent in Dollar terms.
According to NASSCOM's annual survey findings, of the total revenue of Rs 48,000
crore for IT software and services sector, exports grossed Rs 36,500 crore ($ 7.68
billion) of revenue while the domestic software market contributed Rs 11,500 crore
($ 2.42 billion).
The domestic software industry clocked a revenue of Rs 11,500 crore in 2001-02 as
compared to Rs 9,890 crore in 2000-01. The domestic industry growth rate declined in
2001-02 to 16 per cent from 30 per cent in 2000-01.
On the Outlook for 2003, NASSCOM'S annual industry survey estimated that the total
size of Indian software services industry for 2002-03 is expected to be Rs 60,700
crore or $ 12.3 billion.
Additional IT services exports is expected to grow by 22 per cent to Rs 35,800 crore
and IT enabled services exports is expected to grow by 65 per cent to Rs 11,700
crore.
The domestic software market is expected to grow to Rs 13,200 crore in 2002-03,
NASSCOM president Kiran Karnik told reporters.
