Nitish moots lower fares in Shatabdi, Rajdhani
Monday, July 8 2002 14:31 Hrs (IST)

Patna: Railway Minister Nitish Kumar on July 8 said he has asked the Railway Board to explore the possibility of revision of fares in expensive trains like Shatabdi and Rajdhani in the wake of recent drastic reduction in fares of Indian Airlines to attract more passengers.

The matter has been referred to the Railway Board and any decision can be taken only after the board submits its report, Kumar told reporters.

The prohibitive fares in Shatabdi and Rajdhani are a discouragement to many people. By lowering the fares, the Railway could attract more tourists and ordinary passengers to these trains, the minister said.
