Bangalore: In a pathbreaking initiative, Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) on
June 14 signed an agreement with software major Infosys to transfer "Autolay"
software product, a spin-off from the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) technologies.
The associated intellectual property rights (IPR) were also transferred under the
contract in a move aimed at leveraging the technology and Research and Development
base of the Union government for commercial purposes, ADA said.
Autolay, a commercial product used in high performance structural systems, is an
integrated automated software system for design and development of 3-D laminated
composite components, ADA said in a statement.
Infosys, it said, would further develop Autolay software, enhancing its features to
interface with other related tools and programmes as well as increase applicability
in related areas.
Infosys would use Autolay software for client projects and applications and had the
mandate to commercialise the product globally, the statement said.
"Autolay, one of the several spin-offs from LCA technologies, has earned good
revenues for ADA in the past seven years. With increasing acceptability of
composites in several engineering applications in aerospace and automotive sectors,
the software is poised for greater success," it said.
Infosys Chief Operating Officer S Gopalakrishnan said Autolay product was specific
to composite materials and would find increased use in the automotive and aerospace
industries.
