Titan launches world’s slimmest watch 'Titan Edge'
Thursday, May 23 2002 14:45 Hrs (IST)

Bangalore: Titan Industries Limited on May 23 launched "Titan Edge", claiming it to be the slimmest commercially available watch in the world.

It has a total slimness of just 3.5 mm and a wafer thin movement of 1.15 mm, the company said at the launch.

Company officials told reporters that it was produced indigenously after four years of intensive research and development (R & D).

It's a close collaboration between Titan's Design Studio, the production department and the R & D team, they said.

According to the company, most watches average between 6 mm and 10 mm in thickness.

The "Titan Edge", it said, has a fully jewelled quartz analog movement with water resistance of upto 30 metres. Its other features include a state-of-the-art silicon chip that conserves power and doubles the life of the battery and a specially designed step motor.

The movement of the "Titan Edge" has been tested and certified by M/s Chronofiable SA, Switzerland which, it said, is a world-renowned independent horological testing agency.

The "Titan Edge" currently comprises 13 variants – eight in stainless steel and five in the plated version. Priced between Rs 4,495 and Rs 4,995, it comes with a two- year comprehensive guarantee.
