Mangalore: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited's exports dropped to 0.423
million metric tonnes (mmt) in 2001-02 from 0.492 mmt in the previous year, a top
company official said today.
Products despatched by coastal service also fell to 2.79 mmt from 3.23 mmt and by
pipeline transfer to 2.06 mmt from 2.41 mmt, V K Talithaya, vice-president (P & A)
said.
Crude processed in 2001-02 was 5.476 mmt, down from 6.411 mmt, he added.
During the year, the company produced a number of special products with 380 centi-
stoke viscosity and exported 0.235 mmt for the first time, he said.
They included special products such as naptha-reformate, a feedstock for petro-
chemicals industries (0.013mmt), low sulphur furnace oil (0.064mmt) and low
viscosity furnace oil for Navy (0.009 mmt).
Talithaya said the company has taken various measures to preserve the green belt in
the plant premises here with two state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plants. It
has two hydro-cracker producing low sulphur products.
The company, he said, also has two platformers producing lead-free petrol units,
besides one gas oil hydro de-sulphurisation.
