Tuesday, May 14 2002 11:01 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: The SENSEX opened moderately higher only to react negatively later following some pressure in key counters at early stages on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on May 14 on alternate bouts of buying and selling.

The BSE sensitive index opened at 3456.06 as against previous close 3442.49 but later turned weak on selling pressure and was quoted at 3437.62 at 10:45 hours (IST).

Select key stocks like GACL, Infosys Technologies, Telco and few others showed moderate advances on fresh buying. However, heavyweights like HLL, ACC, BHEL, MTNL and L&T came under pressure registering a minor fall.

Meanwhile, the NASDAQ composite index and the Dow Jones industrial average bounced back with a vengeance recovering by about 52 points and 170 points on May 13.
