Mumbai: The SENSEX opened on a promising note and moved upwards in keeping with a
mild rally in key stocks at early stages on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on May 8
on fresh purchases by foreign institutional investors (FIIs) and domestic operators.
The BSE Sensitive Index opened better at 3,434.24 as against a close of 3,423.75 on
May 7 and gradually moved upwards to a high of 3,450.22 before being quoted at
3,436.80 at 10:30 hours (IST).
Majority of second-line shares were in the limelight with domestic operators and
even FIIs shifting their attention to low-priced stocks in the past couple of days.
FIIs were believed to have been good buyers in old economy and front-line IT shares
while speculators preferred to pick up low-priced side stocks.
